If you take a closer glance at the bills, what you see might truly stun you. For instance, the total bill for their dinner meal at Lazeez Restaurant amounted to a mere Rs. 26. The prices for the dishes were even more shocking: a plate of Shahi Paneer cost just Rs. 8, while a plate of Dal Makhni cost Rs. 5, and a bowl of raita only cost Rs. 5. To put this in perspective, these days, a packet of chips or a bottle of an aerated drink can cost Rs. 40. And in most cafes and bars, just one miniscule starter will usually cost more than Rs. 200 (which was many times higher than the total amount paid in 1985!).

 

SIP operates on the principle of receiving compound interest on your investments. In other words, a small amount invested for a long time fetches better returns than a one-time investment.
